
Patriots Sign Jawad Williams

GREENVILLE, S.C., March 30 - The Fayetteville Patriots of the NBA Development League have signed former University of North Carolina forward Jawad Williams and waived Kaniel Dickens due to injury.
Williams, who helped lead the Tar Heels to the 2005 NCAA Championship, has been playing professionally in Spain for Alta Gestion Fuenlabrada Madrid. The former prep AP and GATORADE Player of the Year in the state of Ohio averaged 13.1 points and 4.0 rebounds in 37 games for UNC in 2004-05. At 6-9, 223, Williams played for the Golden State Warriors summer league team in 2005.
Dickens played in 26 games (six starts) for Fayetteville, averaging 22.6 minutes, 10.2 points and 3.4 rebounds.
