TODAY AT NOON: The 2005-06 Jason Collier Sportsmanship Award winner will be announced.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Roanoke guard Will Bynum, currently playing out a second 10-day contract with the Golden State Warriors, was named 2005-06 D-League Rookie of the Year on Wednesday. At the time of his GATORADE Call-Up, Bynum was averaging a league-best 24.0 points per game and was second in the league in assists (6.7 pg)

THEY SAID IT: "The (D-League) is no cakewalk. The (D-League) is hungry. Every night it's a big game, every night someone is coming at you. It was a great experience, and I'm happy for the award." ... Will Bynum told the San Francisco Chronicle about winning D-League Rookie of the Year.

D-LEAGUE CARES: The entire Roanoke Dazzle team, coaches and front office staff will be serving dinner to the residents of the Roanoke Rescue Mission tonight from 4:45 to 7:30 p.m. Also, for the second consecutive season, the Dazzle hosted a "Free Game" to benefit the Roanoke Rescue Mission. On December 23 fans were able to receive free tickets to the Dazzle game by donating a food or toy item to the Rescue Mission.

LOCAL TIES: The Tulsa 66ers and Southwest Basketball, LLC, principal owner David Kahn announced Wednesday that local business leaders Jono Helmerich, Mitchell and Amber Garrett, Melvin Gilliam, Todd White, Mitch and Adam Adwon, Robert Watson, Jon Kantor, Mark Bonney and Jeff Potts have become investors in the team.

BASS RECALLED: On a day when they gained local investors, the Tulsa 66ers lost an inside presence when Brandon Bass was recalled by the Hornets. Bass played in just one game for the 66ers, but was a force, coming off the bench to play 26 minutes, score 16 points and get five rebounds.
