Charleston Lowgators News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (November 27) – The Fayetteville Patriots defeated the North Charleston Lowgators 85-83 in a nip-and-tuck affair on Wednesday night. Jeff Aubry had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Patriots, who snapped a two-game losing streak.

With Fayetteville up 85-83 and 5.2 seconds to go, the Lowgators Corey Benjamin stole an inbound pass, but his attempt to get the ball to Tierre Brown was knocked out of bounds. North Charleston's attempt for the tie fell short as Brown's 18-foot turnaround jumper fell short.

Patriots Coach Jeff Capel was happy to escape with a victory, "We were fortunate and very lucky. North Charleston is a good team and we had to find a way to win. The key was making big plays down the stretch and that's what we did."

The game featured 10 lead changes and 12 ties. The largest lead of the contest was a brief 8-point advantage by the Patriots in the second quarter.

Damone Brown's 23 points off the bench led the Lowgators. Tierre Brown finished with 19 points, 17 of them came in the first half.

"I took what they gave me in the first part of the game. I was feeling good and got into a groove. In the second half, I wanted to get everyone else involved," Tierre Brown said.

Everyone that played scored for the Patriots. Terrell McIntyre was right behind Jeff Aubry in the scoring column with 15.

The Lowgators had six players score in double figures. Sedric Webber, who ranks second in the league with 22 points a night, ended with 10.
