Flight Improve To 4-1 with 82-79 Win Wednesday at Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga., Nov. 27 – Mike Wilks hit four free throws and Eric Chenowith added one-of-two in the final 27 seconds as the Huntsville Flight held off the Columbus Riverdragons for a 92-89 road victory here Wednesday night at the Columbus Civic Center.

For the game, the Flight converted 23-of-25 free throws for 92.0 percent and ran their season's record to 4-1. With a North Charleston 85-83 loss to Fayetteville, the Flight regained first place in the league standings.

Bakari Hendrix led five Flight players in double figures with 22 points, while Brandon Williams added 19, Wilks 14, Lonnie Harrell 12 and Chenowith 11.

The Riverdragons have lost two straight contests and three of the last four to fall to 3-3. They were paced in scoring by Nate Johnson's 23 points. Following Johnson in the points' column was Sean Daugherty with 14, while Tang Hamilton and Jeremy Veal each contributed with 12. Veal also tallied an NBDL season-high 13 assists in the contest.

The Flight saw a 14-point, third-quarter lead evaporate as Columbus rallied to take a one-point advantage late in the period. Huntsville rallied to retake a 66-65 lead at the of three periods. The visitors had originally built an 11-point lead after one quarter at 28-17 and were ahead 48-41at the intermission.

Wilks led the Flight with nine of the team's 38 rebounds, while Rodney Bias added eight boards.. Overall, the Flight held a 38-31 advantage in the rebounding department.

The Flight finishes their string of playing five of six games on the road with a 2 pm EST contest at Greenville Friday. Columbus next plays at Huntsville Saturday in a 7:30 pm contest at the Von Braun Center.
