Charleston Lowgators News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (December 28) â The Fayetteville Patriots defeated the North Charleston Lowgators 93-88 on Saturday night at the North Charleston Coliseum. Terrell McIntyre had a season-high 33 points to pace the visiting team.
After taking the lead in the second quarter, Fayetteville never looked back as they held off two Lowgator comeback attempts. North Charleston cut an 11 point lead to just two late in the third period, but the Patriots went on an 8-2 run to end the quarter.
The Lowgators rallied again in the fourth period cutting their deficit to three but that would be as close as they would get.
"We knew they weren't going to give up. They are a good team," said Patriots coach Jeff Capel. "We were in a similar situation last night and lost, so this was a nice win." After a seesaw battle in the first quarter, Fayetteville point guard Terrell McIntyre took over offensively, as he hit 10 of 21 shots from the floor and nailed all ten free-throw attempts.
"McIntyre was the player of the game, we couldn't stop him or contain him. Plus, they hit 15 more free-throws than we did. That was the difference in the game," Lowgators head coach Doug Marty said.
Matt Barnes and Jeff Aubry had 11 points each for Fayetteville, while the Lowgators were led by Peter Cornell's 19 points and 10 rebounds. Sedric Webber chipped in with 18.
The Lowgators (9-9) will host Mobile on New Year's Day and the Patriots (10-7) will travel to Huntsville on December 31.
