
Patriots Filet The Bluefish 13-4

Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 13-4 before 6,518 fans at Commerce Bank Ballpark on Saturday night.
The Bluefish took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Center fielder Travis Ezi singled and scored on an RBI double by third baseman Luis Lopez.
Somerset took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Second baseman David Housel walked, center fielder Sean Smith singled, and shortstop Teuris Olivares drove in both runners on a double. Third baseman Brandon Larson followed with an RBI double to plate Olivares.
The Patriots opened up the game with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Left fielder Matt Hagen reached on a fielder's choice and scored on an RBI double by catcher Jason Belcher. After Housel drew a walk, Smith cleared the bases with a three-run home run (3). Olivares then singled and stole second. First baseman Josh Pressley and designated hitter Vito Chiaravalloti each drew walks to load the bases. Right fielder Ryan Radmanovich drew a bases loaded walk to plate Olivares and Hagen followed with a two-run double to give Somerset a 10-1 lead.
Bridgeport cut the lead to 10-4 with three runs in the top of the sixth inning. First baseman Ryan Bear singled, shortstop Bobby Darula reached on a fielder's choice, and shortstop Alex Prieto followed with a three-run home run (4).
Somerset added another three runs to the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning on a home run by Pressley (6), an RBI single by Belcher, and a bases loaded walk by Smith.
Patriots starter Josh Brey (2-0) picked up the win, allowing four earned runs on eight hits and five strikeouts in six innings pitched. Bluefish starter Ryan DiPietro (1-3) suffered the loss, allowing nine earned runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings pitched.
The 2008 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday afternoon against the Bridgeport Bluefish at 1:35 pm.
