Camden, NJ - The Somerset Patriots (7-5, 57-25) crushed the Camden Riversharks (3-9, 30-52) 11-1 Monday evening at Campbell's Field. The Patriots tied a season-high in runs and set a season-high in hits with 18.
The Patriots plated four two out runs in the top of the first inning to grab a 4-0 lead. Left fielder Michael Burgess slapped a RBI double while shortstop Robert Andino, first baseman Mat Gamel and second baseman Jose Garcia each sprayed RBI singles.
Somerset scored three more times in the top of the second inning to take a 7-0 advantage. Burgess spanked a two RBI single and Gamel punched a RBI single.
Designated hitter Evan Crawford registered a RBI single to get Camden on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning making the score 7-1.
Designated hitter Aharon Eggleston banged into a double play that resulted in a run as the Patriots added to their lead at 8-1 in the top of the third inning.
Three more runs came across in the top of the fifth inning for Somerset as Eggleston stroked a RBI single while Andino blasted a two RBI double increasing the Patriots lead to 11-1.
Matt Zielinski earned the win (6-1) allowing one hit and one run in seven innings of work. Sean Gleason sustained the loss (5-9) allowing seven runs on 10 hits in just two innings of work.
