Patenaude's 35 Saves Seal 2-1 Win over Mooseheads

The Saint John Sea Dogs (29-29-1-0) were victorious against the Halifax Mooseheads (19-34-3-1) for their eighth and final matchup of the season on Wednesday night. In the rescheduled matchup, goals from Joshua Roy and Charlie DesRoches led the Sea Dogs in their 2-1 win at TD Station.

Nicholas Deakin-Poot returned to the lineup after an upper body injury kept him out for most of the month of February.

Noah Patenaude was incredible in net for the Sea Dogs, stopping 35 of the 36 shots the Mooseheads sent his way for a .972 save percentage in the win.

Two minutes into the game, the Sea Dogs opened the scoring when Joshua Roy received a cross-crease pass from Maxim Cajkovic and tapped it into the wide-open net, extending his scoring streak to five games.

Saint John got the first power play of the night when Zack Jones was sent off for hooking at 5:04.

Jérémie Poirier sent off for delay of game, sending the Sea Dogs to the penalty kill at 14:12. Play went to four-on-four for 37 seconds before going to a Sea Dogs power play when Samuel Dubé was sent to the box for tripping.

With 1:17 left in the period, the Sea Dogs went to the power play for the third time of the night after D'Artagnan Joly received two for tripping. The Sea Dogs started the second period with the man advantage for 43 seconds.

Shots after the first period were 18-11 for the Sea Dogs.

The second period was fast paced, with few whistles and big saves from the netminders on both ends.

The Sea Dogs went onto the kill for the second time of the night when Jérémie Poirier was sent off with 3:34 remaining in the period. Charlie DesRoches fired a rocket of a shot over the shoulder of Alexis Gravel and the Sea Dogs took a 2-0 lead shorthanded.

William Villeneuve received a high sticking penalty with 1:37 remaining in the period. The Mooseheads scored on the power play, cutting the Sea Dogs lead to one.

Shots at the end of the second were 30-22 for the Sea Dogs.

The Sea Dogs penalty kill went out halfway through the period when Charles Savoie received a high sticking double minor.

The Mooseheads pulled their goaltender in an attempt to even the score, but the Sea Dogs held the lead, winning the game in regulation.

Final shots were 39-36 for the Sea Dogs.
