Pat Chat BC Edition Day 1 and Day 2

Regina Pats News Release


A long road traveled:

After 22 hours and 30 minutes, as well as 2 time zones travelled, the Regina Pats arrived yesterday at their home for the next three nights in Vancouver. After a quick unload of the bus, they team practiced for an hour before eating and calling it a night.but there were 7 players away from the team.

Project 1st goal:

Five members of the Regina Pats; Mikael Jung, Matt Hewitt, Art Bidlevskii, Andrew Rieder and Brandon Davidson took part in a drug walk through East Hastings, a drug ravaged spot in Vancouver. They went with members of the RCMP and the Vancouver Police Service to see the downfalls of drug abuse. The Pats players will now tour schools in Regina and the surrounding area telling school kids about the dangers of doing drugs. Over the past 5 seasons of doing Project 1st Goal, the Pats have visited almost every school in Regina and area. A big thanks to CTV for sending a crew down to shoot the program in action.

ADT Subway Superseries:

Two other players, Carter Ashton and Jordan Weal took part in the annual WHL/Russia Subway Superseries. The first of two games took part last night in Kamloops with the Russians coming out on top 7-6 in a shootout. Both Ashton and Weal had goals in the loss for Team WHL.

Today

The Pats will be heading to Vancouver Olympic Village and downtown Vancouver after their practice this morning to see the sights and sounds and to get out of the hotel room. Carter Ashton and Jordan Weal will be rejoining their teammates today after their game yesterday in Kamloops

Game Day Tomorrow:

The Pats will face the Vancouver Giants tomorrow night. The Giants are lead by two of the top scorers in the WHL in Craig Cunningham (1st in WHL) and Brendan Gallagher (6th in WHL).

Fresh Faces:

The Pats have brought in 3 BC prospects from the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft to spend the next few days with the team. Nolan De Jong (7th Rnd), Demico Hannoun(9th rnd) and Kyle Burroughs (3rd) have practiced with the Pats the past two days.
