Passed Ball Gives Dust Devils Walk Off Win

After collecting only two hits Sunday night, the Tri-City Dust Devils shook off the rust and combined for an outpouring with fifteen hits on Monday. Even with all those hits it took extra innings for the Dust Devils to take this one from the Boise Hawks, with the Dust Devils winning in the tenth 5-4.

The Dust Devils (43-27) started off the night hitting, scoring one run in both the first and second innings. The first run came across home plate thanks to an RBI double by Bo Bowman, driving in Ben Paulsen. The Hawks (31-39) came right back, scoring one run in both the third and fourth innings.

The Dust Devils started off the sixth inning with back-to-back triples by Kevin Clark and Joseph Sanders and took a 4-2 lead. Tri-City would have the lead until the ninth, when Eric Stavert gave up two runs to even the score at 4. In the bottom of the tenth Sanders reached on a leadoff single. Sanders advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Dallas Tarleton, and then took third on a wild pitch by Corey Martin. With Joey Wong batting with two outs, Sanders took home on a passed ball by Matt Williams, giving the Dust Devils the win. Sanders had four hits and Bowman was a home run short of the cycle for the evening.

Paul Bargas (3-1) shut down the Hawks offense for one and a third inning to earn the victory. Martin (2-2) took the loss.

The Dust Devils will start a three game set tomorrow with the Yakima Bears, the final home series of the regular season at Gesa Stadium.
