York Revolution News Release
Curtis Partch won his second straight outing, tossing six innings of shutout ball as the York Revolution won their second consecutive game with a 5-0 win over the Lancaster Barnstormers on Sunday afternoon at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
The Revs gave Partch the lead before he even took the mound, scoring two runs in the first as Travis Witherspoon and Alonzo Harris received back-to-back walks to start the game from Lancaster lefty Nate Reed. Witherspoon came home on a ground ball to second off the bat of Michael Burgess on what looked to be an inning ending double play, but Vladimir Frias dropped the flip at second base. A batter later, Joel Guzman grounded into a fielder's choice, hustling down the line to stay out of a double play, to give York a 2-0.
The Revs would add two more in the third as Harris led off with a single up the middle. He then took off for second with Burgess at the dish, and on a hit-and-run, the lefty slapped it off the glove of the shortstop Frias who was racing over to cover the bag, reaching on the infield single. Guzman followed with his second RBI of the game, lining a sacrifice fly to right field as Harris came in to score. Then after an infield single by Angel Franco and a wild Pitch, Ryan Dent bounced a single through the right side to score Burgess, although Franco was gunned down at the plate to end the inning as the Revs pushed the lead to 4-0.
Meanwhile Partch enjoyed his best start of the season, scattering eight hits over six innings plus a batter, and only once allowed a Barnstormer to reach third base. He did not walk a batter on the day, and over his last two starts has combined to allow just two runs over twelve innings, winning both decisions.
The Revs would tack on a run in the ninth on a Dent home run to right-center field, his first as a Rev, extending the lead to 5-0.
The bullpen backed up Partch nicely as Luke Westphal worked two scoreless innings, including striking out the side in the eighth after allowing a leadoff double and a stolen base to begin the frame. Brad Allen then worked a three-up, three-down ninth inning, striking out two to preserve the victory.
The Revs look to win their first four-game series of the season as the two teams meet for the finale at 6:30 p.m. on Monday night. The Revs will send Logan Williamson (1-3, 6.03) to the hill in game four to face off with Lancaster's Bryan Evans (1-2, 5.81). Darrell Henry and Matt Present will be on the air just before first pitch from Clipper Magazine Stadium, following the Baltimore Baseball Show with Dan Connolly which comes your way at 6 p.m. on WOYK 1350.
