Parsons continues assualt on record

Forward Don Parsons continues his quest for history Thursday when the Bloomington PrairieThunder meets Port Huron in a 7:05 p.m. International Hockey League game at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.

Parsons needs just four goals to become the all-time career leader for goals scored in professional minor league hockey. He sits with 674 goals and the record is 677 by former Flint coach Kevin Kerr.

The 39-year-old Parsons, who is second on the team in scoring with 21 points, also needs only four points to reach the 1,300 plateau for his career. He has 1,296 points and ranks first in goals scored and points scored among active players.

Parsons, who is in his 17th season, needs to play in only 28 more games to reach the 1,000 mark. He currently ranks third among active players with 972 and is 92nd on the all-time list.

He also ranks third among active players in assists with 622. That marks is 49th all-time.

The PrairieThunder has won two straight games for a 7-9 record.
