Fort Worth Cats News Release

Fort Worth, Texas --- Despite only surrendering two earned runs in eight innings pitched, Cats starter Blake Parry was on the losing end of a 3-0 score Saturday night at LaGrave Field.

Parry's counterpart, San Angelo starter Demetrius Banks (7-5) scattered seven hits and struck out a game-high six batters en route to the win. The veteran lefty is now 4-0 since joining the Colts in early August.

San Angelo's bullpen was also superb, as relievers Michael Hacker and Alfredo Caballero completed the team's first shutout of the year with scoreless eighth and ninth innings, respectively. Caballero struck out the side in the ninth, and collected his first save.

At the plate, the Colts scored in the first two innings and were then held scoreless the rest of the way.

In the first, catcher Salvador Paniagua hit an RBI single that scored right fielder J.J. Sherrill. Sherrill reached base on a one-out walk.

Blake Parry (6-5) pitched a season-high eight innings, throwing six straight shutout innings after the Colts scored a total of three runs in the first two frames. He allowed three runs, two earned, on 10 hits.

The Cats stranded base runners all evening long, as they were unable to push across any runs despite getting eight hits and reaching base twelve times. Twice a Fort Worth offender was stranded at third, as well as a throw out at the plate to keep RJ Harris from getting the Cats on the board.

San Angelo and Fort Worth are now tied for third place in the United League at 50-43. This series continues Sunday with a doubleheader at LaGrave Field beginning at 5:05 p.m. All tickets are just five dollars, and it will be the finale of Fan Appreciation Weekend. Tickets can be purchased online at FWCats.com or by phone at (817) 332-CATS.
