Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
Mississauga, ON- The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors and Brampton Battalion renewed their rivalry tonight at the Hershey Centre. Blake Parlett won the game for the Majors with his sixth goal of season in over time. The win moves the Majors to 25-7-3-1 on the season.
The first period started quickly and the teams didn't seem to be weighed down by the holiday break. Rob Flick scored his tenth of the season to give the Majors a 1-0 lead early in the opening twenty minutes. Brampton ended the first period with a 2-1 lead over the double blue with goals from Philip Lane and Domenic Alberga.
The Majors answered back and tied the game mid-way through the second period when T.J. Battani made it 2-2. That score would carry through to the third period and eventually in over time. Blake Parlett charged the Brampton net and passed it off to Dustin Ekelman, Ekelman sent the puck to a wide open T.J. Battani who fired but missed the net, the puck deflected off the boards and onto the stick of Parlett, who calmly backhanded the puck into the net, making the final 3-2 for Mississauga.
Parlett's goal earned him the game's "First Star." Rob Flick of the Majors and Philip Lane of the Battalion rounded out the top three. JP Anderson made 16 saves for the Majors and recorded his twelfth win of the campaign. Patrick Killeen was impressive in net for Brampton making 23 saves and takes the loss. The Majors are a perfect 4-0 against Brampton this season.
