Spokane Shock News Release
Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today DL Devon Parks has re-signed with the Shock for the 2008 season, pending final approval from the af2 office.
Shortly after the conclusion of the Shock's 2007 season, Parks signed a contract with the AFL's Orlando Predators. After being released in training camp by the Predators, Parks was quickly picked up by the Cleveland Gladiators and released during their training camp.
Parks, who joined the Shock in early June of 2007, currently holds the franchise record for sacks in a season (6), despite playing in only eight games. Additionally, Parks contributed 21 total tackles during the regular season and was selected to the 2nd Team All af2 American Conference Team.
"Devon Parks is one of the premier pass rushers in the af2," Shock Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "We think a full season with us here (in Spokane) he will earn another AFL shot, there is no doubt in my mind that he has the ability and the tools to get back to the next level."
Shackleford will open up training camp on March 8th with a full 35-man roster that will be trimmed a 22-man roster for the regular season. At the conclusion of training camp, the Shock will host an exhibition game at the Yakima SunDome as they take on the Amarillo Dusters on March 20th. Tickets are on sale now through TicketsWest.
