Parker Rejoins Smokies Friday

KODAK, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Class AA minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announce this afternoon the return of RHP Blake Parker to the team from Triple-A Iowa. He will be available for this evening's game against the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx. There are no corresponding moves at this time.

The Smokies roster now sits at 24 active players.

Parker joins the Smokies for the second time in his career, first time this season, after starting the 2010 season with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs. He started the 2009 campaign in Tennessee, where he made 10 relief appearances before being called up to Iowa for the remainder of the season. The Fayetteville, AR native was drafted by Chicago in the 16th round of the 2006 MLB First-Year Player Draft. According to Baseball America, Parker is ranked as the No. 20 minor league prospect in the Chicago Cubs organization.
