Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears (56-45) scored all five runs with two out, and the Biscuits (55-47) left two runners on-base in four of the last five innings falling by a final of 5-2 Friday at Hank Aaron Stadium.
The Biscuits have now dropped eight of ten, their worst ten-game stretch of the season, and have lost the first three games of the Mobile series.
The BayBears got on the board against Biscuits starter Alex Torres (9-4) in the fourth with a two-out single from Ed Easley. They'd add two more one inning later, getting two-out hits from Collin Cowgill and Sean Coughlin to go up 4-0.
The Biscuits got their tallies in the sixth, stringing together four singles with two-outs. Nevin Ashley and Rashad Eldridge each drove in runs against reliever Roque Mercedes to make it 4-2.
The Biscuits left the tying run aboard in every inning from the fifth through the eighth, and finished the night having stranded nine.
Torres gave up four runs on nine hits and four walks over six innings in the loss. Mobile starter Kyler Newby (2-2) threw five scoreless innings to grab the win, and Bryan Shaw tossed the eighth and ninth to get his 2nd save.
Nevin Ashley and John Matulia each had two hits for the Biscuits.
RHP Alex Cobb will start in the series' fourth game on Saturday at 7:05 against Mobile LHP Tom Layne.
