Papa John's to Present Inaugural Championship Week

WICHITA, KS - The National Baseball Congress is excited to announce a partnership with Papa John's as both the official pizza of the 79th annual NBC World Series and as the presenting sponsor of the inaugural Championship Week.
"We are thoroughly excited, and very honored, to have Papa John's come on board as the presenting sponsor of Championship Week," said NBC World Series president Josh Robertson. "Terry Newman and Tim Daniel have been longtime supporters of both the tournament and the professional teams in our city. This partnership is another example of their great support and will help to ensure the tournament's future success."
Championship Week runs August 2nd-10th and features the final 16 teams in the 79th annual NBC World Series. Two of the clubs will have emerged from the first week of the tournament, which begins Friday, July 26th at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
"Tim and I are very excited about forming this partnership," said Papa John's president Terry Newman. "The NBC World Series represents countless generations of great family memories in Wichita, and we couldn't be more proud to associate our product with such an important piece of our city's history."
Papa John's opened its first location in 1984 and has been a proud member of the Wichita community since 1996.
"The City of Wichita is excited about our friends at Papa John's stepping up to sponsor Championship Week for this year's NBC tournament," said City of Wichita councilman Jeff Longwell. "This is great news for the players, fans and future success of a terrific baseball venue.
"As a council member that has been very involved with the sustainability of a treasured Wichita tradition, I was hoping for these kinds of partnerships that will help us build into the future. The NBC has a rich past and a promising future with continued support from people like Terry Newman, Tim Daniel, and Papa John's. Beginning this season, fans can use cash at all points of sale in Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. Debit and credit cards will still be accepted.
