Bay Area Panthers News Release

The Bay Area Panthers are bringing in championship pedigree with the signing of linebacker Darin Hungerford.

Following an IFL Championship with the Northern Arizona Wranglers, Hungerford heads to Bay Area where he'll be reunited with Rob Keefe, the Panthers defensive coordinator who ran the defense last season at Northern Arizona.

In 14 of a possible 19 games for the Wranglers, Hungerford recorded 71.5 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks, the most for any IFL linebacker.

"In my eyes, we've got the best linebacker in the league," said Head Coach Darren Arbet. "He's a force on the defensive side of the ball and can do it all: He can stop the run, rush the passer and cover. Darin's a winner. "

Hungerford played his college ball at Kean University where he recorded 321 tackles and holds the school record for most in a single game with 25. He was selected as an honorable mention All-American by D3football.com and an All-East Region First Team in 2016.

Prior to joining the IFL, Hungerford played for the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes of the German Football League (GFL) for two seasons and was named All-Europe First Team in 2021 after recording 121 tackles, including tackles for loss in 2021.
