Panthers Return Robak

Brandon, Manitoba -- Fresh off a successful season opening weekend home and home series sweep of the Regina Pats, the Brandon Wheat Kings have received some welcome news from the Florida Panthers.

The National Hockey League club has announced that 18-year old defenceman Colby Robak has been reassigned to the Wheat Kings, who came from behind to beat the hometown Regina Pats 4-3 Sunday afternoon in an Overtime Shootout.

In Friday's season opener at Westman Place, the Wheat Kings scored four third period goals to beat Regina 5-3.

A second round draft choice of the Panthers in last June's NHL Entry Draft, Robak is entering his third Western Hockey League season.

In 71 games with the Wheat Kings last season, Robak had six goals, 30 points and 25 minutes in penalties. He is the third Wheat King to return from NHL Training Camp in the past week, joining Matt McCue (St. Louis) and Keith Aulie (Calgary). Only 19-year old left-winger Matt Calvert remains away at NHL camp as he continues to skate with the Blue Jackets in Columbus.

Robak's return gives the Wheat Kings eleven defenceman including seven veterans on their roster - Chad Erb, Brodie Melnychuk, Jordan Hale, Alexander Grill-Donovan, McCue and Aulie.

The Wheat Kings expect the 6'3" 200 lb. Gilbert Plains product back in Brandon Monday night.

Brandon's next home game is Friday night against the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors. Tickets to that game went on sale at noon today at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca
