Regina Pats News Release
Week In review:
September 19th, 2008 Regina Pats 3 @ Brandon Wheat Kings 4
The 2008-09 Western Hockey League season began with a tough assignment for the blue and white. Making the 4 hour trip east to face, what many are calling the favourites to take the east division, the Brandon Wheat Kings. The Pats held a 2-1 lead heading into the third, but 4 four markers in the final 20 minutes by the Wheatties lead to a 5-3 loss. A pair of rookies had a fine night, as Jordan Weal and Koltyn Miller each had a pair of assists.

With 5 Pat players still away at NHL camps, fans got to see into the future...and that future looks bright. Even though the Pats lost to the Wheatties 4-3 in a shoot-out, 16 year old forward Jordan Weal picked up a goal and two assists.
Weekly Honours:
For his 5 point effort in the first two games of the season, rookie forward Jordan Weal was named the WHL's player of the week. In two games, he finished with a goal and 4 assists.
It's Been a Very Good Week in the NHL:
The Pats have been shorthanded for the first week of the WHL season with 5 players still away at NHL camps. All have enjoyed some success, as Jordan Eberle has scored in a preseason game, and also potted one in the annual Joey Moss Cup, Oiler inter-squad game. Goaltender Linden Rowat is pegged to get the start with the L.A. Kings in one of the upcoming games, and Colten Teubert has been his usual rough and tumble self with the Kings. Brett Leffler (Wash.) and Matt Delahey (N.J.) have both had strong camps, and still remain with their NHL camps.
Injury Front:
The only injury the Pats are dealing with is Kyle Mulder, as he missed the first two games of the season with a hip flexor.
