Panthers Reassign Olsen to Portland

Portland, ME - Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today the reassignment of defenseman Dylan Olsen to the Portland Pirates.

Olsen, a 6-foot-3, 210 pound defenseman from Calgary, Alberta, has played in eight games with the Panthers this season, scoring one assist. He was recalled yesterday on an emergency basis prior to Florida's game on the road against the Montreal Canadiens, but did not dress.

The 24 year-old sixth year pro has played in 38 games with Portland this season, recording 12 points (4-8-12) and 10 PIM.

Selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the First Round (28th Overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Olsen has played a total of 124 NHL games with Chicago and Florida. Prior to turning pro, he played a season-and-a-half of NCAA Division I Men's Hockey with the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.

Olsen will be eligible to return to the Pirates lineup as they begin a three-game weekend road trip this Friday night at the XL Center against the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:15 p.m. Voice of the Pirates Jeff Mannix calls all the action beginning with the Pirates Pregame Show, Served by Dunkin Donuts, at 6:55 on the WPEI Portland Pirates Radio Network, Presented by Napa Auto Parts, on 95.9/95.5 FM.

The Pirates round out the weekend hosting the Springfield Falcons for a two-game series starting Friday night at 7:00 p.m, which is the Pirates' annual Pink in the Rink game, presented by TD Bank.
