Palm Beach Cardinals News Release

The force was with the Palm Beach Cardinals on Star Wars Night!

With two outs and runners on the corners in the bottom of the 10th inning at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, left fielder Tyler Reichenborn sent a line drive to shallow right-center field to bring home right fielder Hansel Otamendi. The bloop single was enough in the extra-inning to give Palm Beach its fifth walk-off of 2022, a 2-1 victory over the Jupiter Hammerheads.

Jupiter opened the scoring in the third inning, but Palm beach answered in the sixth with a Jeremy Rivas double to score Osvaldo Tovalin.

Saturday night's game took on the role of a pitchers' duel. Carlos Guarate started the game for Palm Beach and lasted four and 1/3 innings, tossing three strikeouts and allowing an earned run. Jupiter's Gabe Bierman got through five and 1/3 frames while allowing just one earned run as well.

But the matchup would be decided by the bullpens, and the Cardinal relievers delivered. Edgar Manzo and Hayes Heinecke got Palm Beach through the eighth inning before Andre Granillo escaped a jam in the ninth to ensure free baseball for the fans in Jupiter.

Granillo was able to strand the automatic runner in extra innings to set up Palm Beach's walk-off in the bottom half.

The Cardinals clinched at least a share of the home series over their in-stadium rivals with Saturday's win. They'll look to claim an outright series win at Noon on Sunday.
