JUPITER, FL- The Palm Beach Cardinals picked up their seventh victory in August, courtesy of an error filled game by the Clearwater Threshers, winning 9-3 at Roger Dean Stadium.

Trailing 2-0 in the third, the Cardinals benefited from three errors by the Threshers, eventually leading to six runs. Third baseman Mike Costanzo made an errant throw, J.J. Johnson committed a fielding error and catcher Tuffy Gosewisch threw into a runner trying to complete a double play.

The Cardinals did string together some hits including RBI singles from Rayner Laya, Juan Lucena, Colby Rasmus, Matt Dryer and Joe Mather.

Mather collected two more RBIs on the night, including a solo homerun in the sixth inning, giving him 14 round-trippers for the year.

Starter Jaime Garcia (3-3) evened his record after going 7 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on ten hits, while striking out three and walking just one. He has managed to last at least five innings in all 9 starts since being called up from Quad Cities.
