Palace Baltimore Switch Venue for Upcoming Rochester Game
August 17, 2010 - U.S. Soccer Federation D-2 (USSF D-2)
Crystal Palace Baltimore News Release
Baltimore, Md. - As the delays in the turf renovation at the Paul Angelo Russo Stadium continue, Crystal Palace Baltimore (6-10-6) have switched this Wednesday's, August 18 fixture against the Rochester Rhinos (12-5-6) to the Ridley Athletic Complex of Loyola University. Kick off has also been changed and is scheduled for 7 p.m. and not 5 p.m. as previously announced.
Construction on the state-of-the-art facility began in 2006 and was opened on March 13, 2010. Named after early project champion, Reverend Harold Ridley S.J., the 6,000-seat stadium boasts Sportexe Momentum synthetic turf, Presidential and VIP Spectator boxes and a jumbo video screen.
The change of venue might be a positive for Palace. Since moving homes from UMBC, Palace Baltimore has fared better against some big name competition. Most recently, Palace Baltimore beat a Carolina RailHawks team that has only lost once on the road this season, 2-1 on Saturday at the Lumsden-Scott Stadium.
"We are definitely not excited about the venue changes," said Pete Medd, Palace Baltimore President. "Both for the team and our fans. Unfortunately, the delays at our planned location continue but we are confident that the team will do what they have done in many big games regardless of the stadium and push for the playoffs."
Palace Baltimore fans that are unable to attend the match will be able to watch the game live via streaming feed by logging onto live.palacebaltimore.com a few minutes before the scheduled kick off.
