Rochester Rhinos News Release
The Rochester Rhinos will make their way south to Maryland on Wednesday night to take on Crystal Palace Baltimore in a 5:00 p.m. start from Paul Angelo Russo Stadium. On Saturday the club will return to Rochester to face the Miami FC Blues at Marina Auto Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
The Rhinos will be taking their league-best four-game winning streak with them and a first place overall standing in the league on Wednesday. Rochester's 2-1 win over Montreal on Saturday moved them past the Austin Aztex into first place in the USL Conference and overall point lead with 42 points. The Aztex lost to Puerto Rico on Saturday night by a 2-0 score.
Forward Isaac Kissi has taken over the Rhinos scoring lead after netting his fifth goal and 12th point of the season on Saturday. The Ghana native is also currently the club leader with three game-winning goals in 2010. Entering Wednesday's match the Rhinos however have played three more matches than Austin.
Rochester is 1-1-1 this season against Crystal Palace Baltimore. Crystal Palace is led offensively by Tsuyoshi Yoshitake who has tallied three goals this season. The club had been led by forward Randi Patterson who was dealt to the Austin Aztex earlier this month.
On Saturday the Rhinos will return home to face Miami FC at Marina Auto Stadium. The Rochester Rhinos will honor the Rochester Lancers and celebrate the 40th anniversary of the club's North American Soccer League (NASL) Championship in 1970. The celebration weekend will conclude on Sunday, August 22 with a luncheon featuring members of the Rochester Lancers Alumni at the Italian American Sports Club located at 1250 Buffalo Road in Gates.
The match to be played between the Rhinos and Miami FC Blues will feature throwback uniforms with Rochester sporting 1970 Lancer jerseys while Miami will bear jerseys worn by the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. The reunion will also feature an introduction and autographs by members of the Lancer Alumni and in addition, a commemorative program and a team picture featuring the 1970 Lancers will be on sale at the match for the package price of $5. Jerseys worn by both teams will be auctioned off with part of the net proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester.
Tickets for the luncheon are $25.00 and on sale at the Rhinos office, the Soccer Shack, Top Notch Monogramming and the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester office.
