
Pair of Signings Solidify Roster; Kremer Announces Retirement

LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford Aviators have announced the signing of former St. Louis Cardinals prospect, Matthew Young, and Washington University product, Dae Kim, to the 2015 roster.
Young spent the last three seasons as an outfielder in the Cardinals organization. Appearing in 125 games in the Cardinals system, Young racked up a .233 batting average with eight home runs and 45 RBIs.
"We look for to come in and provide some power and athleticism to our line up," said Aviators Manager, James Frisbie. "He has lots of natural ability and we hope we can get him on track."
Young was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 14th round in 2011 out of Compton Community College, but opted to continue to play college ball at Cal State University - Dominguez Hills. The next year, the Cardinals selected him in the 20th round of the MLB Amateur Draft.
Kim will join the Aviators as a rookie in 2015 after graduating from Washington University this past spring. The right-handed pitcher had a career record of 2-2 with a 4.68 ERA in 23 appearances.
" will come in and compete for a starting rotation spot or a middle relief role in the bullpen," said Frisbie.
KREMER ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
Outfielder, Jeff Kremer, has announced his retirement from baseball due to an ailing shoulder injury suffered last season.
Kremer's spot in the outfield won't be an easy one to fill. The lefty hitter averaged .335 at the plate in his two seasons with the Aviators and was runner up for Rookie of the Year in the Frontier League in 2013.
The Aviators open their 2015 campaign on the road against the Gateway Grizzlies on Friday, May 15 at 7:05 p.m. Opening Day at Aviators Stadium will be Tuesday, May 19 at 6:35 p.m. as the Aviators host the Traverse City Beach Bums.
