
Bums Re-Sign All Star Battery

WUERFEL PARK - The Traverse City Beach Bums are excited to announce they've re-signed the All-Star battery of pitcher Casey Delgado and catcher Jake Rhodes for the 2015 season. The two represented the Beach Bums at the 2014 Frontier League's All-Star Game.
Delgado is a right-hander entering his second season with the Beach Bums and third overall in the Frontier League. Last season he made a team-high 19 starts going 7-6 with a 3.25 earned run average in 116.1 innings on the mound. He led the Frontier League with 118 strikeouts.
"Casey is a top of the rotation guy and we're excited to have him back" said Beach Bums' manager Dan Rohn. "We're also excited to surround him with good players and score some runs for him this season."
The 24-year old played Division I baseball at Austin Peay his junior and senior seasons going a combined 18-7 with 166 strikeouts in 200 innings.
He broke into professional baseball in 2013 with the Frontier Greys earning a 3.16 ERA in 66.2 innings.
Delgado lives in Miami during the off-season and his proud parents are Robert & Connie Delgado. He majored in psychology while at Austin Peay.
Rhodes is returning for his second year behind the plate. In his first pro season he batted .271, three homers and 30 RBI. He added 10 doubles.
"We're looking for a great second year out of Jake after he had a great rookie season" noted Rohn. "He'll come in with Cole Martin as our catchers
and we look for him to be our number one."
The 25-year old played Division I baseball at Murray State for two years.
Combined he batted .294, eight homers and 67 RBI with the Racers. He previously spent two years at Wabash Valley College where he received All Conference Awards in 2009 and 2010.
He is a native of Ypsilanti and continues to live there in the off-season.
His proud parents are Michael and Karrie Rhodes. He graduated from Murray State with a degree in Media Electronics.
The 10th season of Beach Bums baseball begins Friday May 15 at Evansville at 6:35pm. The home opener scheduled for Friday May 22nd vs. Windy City at 7:05pm.
All games will be broadcast live on 98.1 The Bear.
The Wuerfel Park offices are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The Beach Bums will play 51 games at Wuerfel Park in 2015 starting with the home opener and a FANtastic Fireworks Friday on May 22 at 7:05 pm. Season ticket packages are now available!
