New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ - Nick Giarraputo has been named the Can-Am League's Player of the Month, while Isaac Pavlik earns Pitcher of the Week honors.

Giarraputo currently leads the Can-Am League with 15 home runs, 42 RBIs, and a .400 batting average. He is the tenth Jackal to win the award, and the first since AJ Wideman won Pitcher of the Month last August.

Not only has Giarraputo been productive, but he's been clutch. Four of his 15 home runs have tied or given the Jackals the lead in the eighth inning or later - his most notable a 16th-inning walk-off home run down 9-8 against the Grand Prairie AirHogs on June 23rd.

The Calabasas, California native also won Hitter of Week from June 4th-10th.

A lifetime .257 hitter coming into the season, Giarraputo has quickly turned into arguably the best player in the Can-Am League. He has not gone more than three straight games without an RBI in 2012.

Giarraputo was selected by the Mets out of Simi Valley High School in the 12th round in 2006.

Nothing new to Pavlik. The Jackals longest tenured player takes home POTW honors for the second time this season and eighth overall.

This season, the former Chicago Cubs AA farmhand out of Paramus is 4-0 with a 3.33 ERA.

In his one start last week, Pavlik threw eight scoreless innings, allowing five hits against the Grand Prairie AirHogs. Not only did it help stop the Jackals three-game losing streak, but also tied him with Joel Bennett for first place on the all-time Jackals wins list.

Tonight, Pavlik goes for the record. First pitch from Newark is 6:35.

The New Jersey Jackals, proud members of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, play their home games at Yogi Berra Stadium located on the campus of Montclair State University in Little Falls, NJ. 2012 single-game tickets, season tickets, mini-plans and group outings are available by calling 973-746-7434.
