Mankato MoonDogs News Release
Mankato, Minn. - The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, of the Northwoods League is excited to announce, the addition of Ohio State Buckeyes pitcher Kyle Michalik and infielder Craig Nenning to the MoonDogs 2015 Roster.
Nenning, a Junior infielder and Wrightstown, Wisconsin native is no stranger to the Northwoods League. In 2014 he was a part of the Alexandria Blue Anchors. He appeared in 60 games with a .286 average, while tallying three homeruns and 21 RBI. Nenning also took part in the 2014 Big League Dreams Showcase.
Field Manager Ryan Day had this to say about Nenning, "He's a well rounded shortstop with experience in the league who can go gap to gap and has the power to hit it out."
In late July of 2014 Nenning had seven hits, four doubles, five RBI and three runs scored against the MoonDogs in a two game stretch.
"We expect good things out of him this summer," said Day.
Michalik, a Redshirt Freshman and Brunswick, Ohio native has yet to see action as a member of the Buckeyes. The 6'1 right-hander is a converted middle infielder who recently made change to a sidearm bullpen reliever.
"His athleticism on the mound will get us some tough outs," said Day. "Having gone through the transition personally from a position player to pitcher, I'm excited to help guide him in any way I can."
"Both guys come for a great program with a great tradition, who really understand the game," said Day.
The MoonDogs home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27 at 7:05 p.m. against the Rochester Honkers at Franklin Rogers Park. Season tickets are now on sale at the MoonDogs office located at 1221 Caledonia Street.
