Duluth Huskies News Release
(Duluth, MN) - The Duluth Huskies have signed Matt McLaughlin and TJ Martin from the Kansas Jayhawks of the Big 12.
Kansas Head Coach Rich Price is high on his two young players. "Matt McLaughlin is a Freshman infielder hailing from Leland High School in San Jose, California. Matt led his high school team to the Northern California CCS State Championship last year. He's an athletic, middle infielder who we project to start for us as a true freshman. Matt is an excellent defensive player with outstanding hands, arm, feet, and the ability to play all three infield positions. He has grown up in a baseball family. His Uncle, Lindsey Meggs, is the Head Baseball Coach at the University of Washington. Matt has a high baseball IQ, and does all of the "little things" to help his team win. He follows in the footsteps of several former Jayhawks who have been great players for the Duluth Huskies.
TJ Martin, Freshman Catcher is from Blue Valley Southwest in Overland Park, Kansas. TJ was the number two rated prospect in the state of Kansas as a senior. He's a physical RH Hitting Catcher, with gap-to-gap power. TJ has a plus arm, andprojects to be a professional catcher with continued development. TJ is battling former Duluth Huskies catcher Michael Tinsley for the starting catching job this year."
Huskies General Manager Craig Smith said, "Our relationship with Kansas continues to bring the highest caliber of quality student athletes to Duluth. Coach Rich Price is one of the most highly respected Baseball Coaches in the country and we are proud to maintain our tradition of excellence with Kansas Baseball"
