ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Pacific Coast League announced today that Juan Perez of the Fresno Grizzlies and Bruce Billings of the Sacramento River Cats have been named Player and Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 13th - 19th.

Perez racked up five consecutive multi-hit games and led all PCL batters with 12 hits and 21 total bases last week. The infielder notched a .522 average over six games including three doubles, two home runs and six RBI. In Sunday's game against New Orleans, Perez had the game-tying and game-winning hits in a 4-2 victory.

Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Perez was drafted in the 13th round of the 2008 draft by the San Francisco Giants. He batted .302 with 11 home runs for Double-A Richmond in 2012 and is currently hitting .311 on the season with seven home runs and 25 RBI. His stellar performance helped the Grizzlies win 8 out of their last 10 games and moved them into first place in the Pacific Southern Division.

Billings put together a pair of excellent outings for the River Cats last week, collecting victories against Nashville and Oklahoma City. On Monday in Nashville, the right-hander gave up only one earned run to the Sounds over six innings, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out eight. He followed that up on Saturday with seven strong shutout innings at home, striking out eight RedHawks while giving up only three hits and one walk.

Born in San Diego, California, Billings was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 30th round of the 2007 draft out of San Diego State University. After making his Major League debut as a reliever in May of 2011, he was acquired by Oakland in a trade that sent Mark Ellis to Colorado in June. In 2012, Billings went 9-6 with 3.95 ERA in 25 starts with the River Cats. So far this season, he is 4-2 with a 4.97 ERA having struck out 41 batters in 38.0 innings.
