P-Nats Score Five in First in 11-4 Win

(WOODBRIDGE, VA) - The Potomac Nationals scored early and often en route to an 11-4 victory over the Lynchburg Hillcats in their home opener at Pfitzner Stadium. Potomac got their first win of the year against Lynchburg after getting swept by the Hillcats in the opening series of the season.

Bobby Hansen (1-1) picked up his first win of the season giving up three runs on eight hits striking out two batters in six innings of work.

Ronan Pacheco (0-1) took the loss allowing eight runs (six earned) on three hits while walking a career high seven batters.

Potomac (3-4) got off to a great start in the bottom of the 1st scoring five runs taking advantage of a wild Ronan Pacheco. Already leading 1-0, Randolph Oduber delivered a two-out, two-run single driving home Blake Kelso and Justin Bloxom. Two batters later, Adrian Sanchez lined a two-run double down the left field line to extend the Potomac lead to 5-0.

The Nationals added two more runs to make it 7-0 in the bottom of the 2nd inning taking advantage of a throwing error by Hillcats third baseman Edward Salcedo.

Lynchburg (5-2) got on the board in the top of the 3rd inning courtesy of a solo home run by Evan Gattis, his second of the young season.

Leading 8-3 in the bottom of the 7th, Kevin Keyes put the game out of reach launching his first home run of the season, a three-run home run shot, making it 11-3 P-Nats.
