WOODBRIDGE, VA - The Potomac Nationals fell 6-1 to the Frederick Keys Tuesday morning on Middle School Science Day at Pfitzner Stadium.

The P-Nats jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after the extra-early 10:30 a.m. start time, but Frederick scored more often as the sun rose higher in the sky over Woodbridge.

Steve Lombardozzi led off the bottom of the first inning for Potomac with a triple, just as the crowd of middle schoolers from Prince William County Public Schools was getting settled into their seats. He scored on the same play thanks to a throwing error charged to Buck Britton. But there wasn't much else to cheer for on Middle School Science Day at The Pfitz.

At the plate Britton more than made up for his singular gaffe, finishing 2-for-5 with two-run homer in the third and an RBI-single in the seventh. Britton is now 4-for-10 with three runs and three RBI in the series with Potomac.

Lombardozzi finished the day 2-for-5 with a run.

Frederick right-hander Ryan O'Shea picked up his first win of the season after holding the Nationals to one earned run on three hits in five innings. Potomac's Brad Peacock took the hard-luck loss despite limiting the Keys to three hits and fanning 10 batters in five innings.

Frederick returns to Pfitzner Stadium Wednesday at 7:03 p.m. for the third game of the four-game series. The contest will feature Potomac righty Pat Lehman vs. Frederick left-hander Nate Nery.

Wednesday is the first Belly Buster Night of the 2010 season, presented by Moe's Southwest Grill, Hard Times Cafe and Uno Chicago Grill. Belly Buster Night at Pfitzner Stadium means all-you-can-eat for just $15!
