P-Bruins Fall to Pirates 5-4

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Portland Pirates 5-4 Friday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Pascal Pelletier, Nate Thompson, Martins Karsums and T.J. Trevelyan. The Pirates won the best-of-seven Atlantic Division Finals 4 game to 2.
The P-Bruins began the scoring at the 2:27 mark of the opening period. Pelletier stole the puck at the P-Bruins blue line. He carried the puck down the left boards into the corner. When he sent the puck towards the slot it hit the post and redirected into the net for his sixth goal of the post-season. Providence took a 2-0 advantage, while shorthanded at the 9:50 mark. Thompson took the puck off a Pirates turnover and skated into the Pirates zone with a breakaway. Thompson waited for Pirates net minder Jean-Sebastien Aubin to make his move and then backhanded the puck around him, into the net for his second goal of the playoffs. Portland cut the lead in half at the 10:35 mark, while on the power play. Drew Miller tallied his first goal of the playoffs with Geoff Platt getting the lone assists. Providence went into the first intermission with a 2-1 lead.
In the second period, the Pirates tied the game at two at the 12:43 mark. Andy Schneider netted his second goal of the post-season with Bobby Ryan and Andrew Ebbett recording the assists. Providence once again took the lead at the 13:55 mark. From the left point Pelletier sent the puck around the boards to Vladimir Sobotka behind the net. He found Karsums in the slot, who scored his seventh goal of the playoffs. The Pirates battled back to tie the game at three at the 16:47 mark, while on the power play. Jason King scored his fourth goal of the playoffs with Joe Callahan and Ebbett grabbing the assists. The game went into the second intermission tied at three.
In the third period, the Pirates took their first lead of the game at the 1:13 mark. Platt tallied his fifth goal of the playoffs with Miller and Callahan getting the assists. Portland took a two goal advantage at the 6:52 mark. King netted his second goal of the game and fifth of the post-season with Ebbett getting the lone assist. Providence cut the lead to one with a power play goal at the 13:43 mark. Trevelyan scored from the right face off circle, his fifth goal of the playoffs with Jonathan Sigalet and Zach Hamill getting the assists.
Tuukka Rask stopped 16 of 21 shots and Jordan Sigalet stopped the only shot he face for the P-Bruins, while Aubin made 30 saves for the Pirates. The P-Bruins went 1-for-6 on the power play and 2-for-4 on the penalty kill.
