
P-Bruins Defeat Monarchs 3-0

Manchester, NH - The Providence Bruins defeated the Manchester Monarchs 3-0 Saturday evening at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The P-Bruins got their goals from T.J. Trevelyan, Jeff Hoggan and Martins Karsums. In his professional debut, P-Bruins goaltender Kevin Regan earned the shutout stopping all 23 shots he faced. The 55-17-3-4 Regular Season League Champion P-Bruins wrap up the regular season Sunday against the Lowell Devils at the Dunkin' Donuts Center at 4:05 p.m.
After scoreless first and second periods, the P-Bruins scored the first goal of the game at the 16:52 mark of the third period. Zach Hamill sent the puck to Matt Hunwick, who dished it off to Trevelyan. He shot the puck past Monarchs net minder Jonathan Bernier and into the net for his 18th goal of the season. Providence went up 2-0 at the 17:30 mark, while shorthanded. Sean Curry stole the puck in his own zone and passed it off to Matt Hendricks who fed Hoggan, giving him a breakaway. Hoggan waited for Bernier to commit to the right side of the net before scoring on the opposite side for his 29th goal of the season. The P-Bruins wrapped up the scoring with an empty net goal at the 19:46 mark. Martins Karsums tallied his 20th goal of the season, with Chirs Collins and Adam McQuaid picking up the assists. Providence went on to the 3-0 victory.
Bernier made 27 saves for the Monarchs. The P-Bruins went 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The Regular Season League Champion P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center for a Family Game Sunday versus the Lowell Devils at 4:05 p.m. Receive one ticket, hot dog and soda starting as low as $16.
