River Rats Announce First Round Playoff Schedule

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today the full game schedule for their first round Calder Cup Playoff series with the Philadelphia Phantoms.

The River Rats found out Saturday night that they have a date with the Phantoms for the first round of the 2008 playoffs, after Philadelphia lost at Hershey 5-2, locking up second place in the East Division. Albany, who is making their second straight Calder Cup Playoffs appearance, will open the series at home, playing Game 1 on Wednesday, April 16th at 7:00 pm the Times Union Center.

Games 2 and 3 will be held in Philadelphia next weekend, while Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22nd at 7:00 pm back in Albany. If necessary, Game 5 will also be in the Capital District, on Thursday, April 24th at 7:00 pm. Games 6 and 7 will be back in Philadelphia and are currently to be determined, awaiting the playoff situations of the Flyers (NHL) and the Sixers (NBA) to unfold.

Due to the Circus residing at the Phantoms' home building, Wachovia Spectrum, from April 16th through April 27th, all Phantoms home games during the series with Albany will be played at the Wachovia Center, home of the NHL's Flyers and NBA's Sixers.

Albany will complete the 2007-08 regular season on Sunday, April 13th in Philadelphia for a 5:05 pm game against the Phantoms at the Wachovia Spectrum. The 2008 Calder Cup Playoffs officially begins next week and the River Rats first round Divisional series with the Philadelphia Phantoms will begin with Game 1 on Wednesday, April 16th at 7:00 pm at the Times Union Center.
