
Owlz Sweep Raptors with 11-5 Win

Joe Melioris became just the third Owlz pitcher to go six innings, as the Owlz completed a 4-game sweep of the Ogden Raptors in an 11-5 win.
The 6'10" right-hander went six innings, allowing four runs on four hits and one walk. The four runs all came across in the third inning.
"He either watched Happy Gilmore and learned how to putt or bought a vowel from Vanna White and solved the puzzle," said Manager Tom Kotchman.
After the rough third inning, Melioris (3-2) threw three shutout innings, allowing just one walk. Eddie Sipple relieved Melioris and went 2.2 innings, giving up just one run. The Raptors did not get a single hit, besides for in the fourth inning, until the top of the 9th with two outs.
The Owlz pounded out 18 hits, including three from Taylor Lindsey, four from Ryan Jones and three from Trevor Hairgrove. Lindsey hit his 8th home run of the year off of Freddie Cabrera (0-1) in the 4th inning to put the Owlz ahead 6-4. Jones finished 4-for-5 with two runs and 4 RBIs.
Kaleb Cowart and Gary Mitchell both hit two-run home runs in the victory.
Orem is one game back of the Casper Ghosts for first place in the South division. The Owlz will head to Ogden for a three-game series, beginning Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
