Owlz Can't Catch up to Raptors in Finale

(Ogden) - The Owlz could not keep pace with the Ogden Raptors on Sunday afternoon, dropping the series finale by the score of 16-9 at Lindquist Field in Ogden.

Every time the Owlz closed the gap on Sunday afternoon, the Ogden Raptors opened it right back up. The Owlz opened the scoring in the first inning thanks to a Livan Soto RBI single but the lead didn't' last long as the Raptors scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted by a Jon Littell three-run homer, giving the Raptors a 5-1 lead.

Ogden went on to score three more runs between the second and fourth innings, extending their lead to 8-1 before Jordyn Adams picked up his first RBI as a member of the Owlz with a groundout in the fifth. The Owlz added two more in the inning to make it an a 8-4 game.

After Ogden scored four more times, Francisco Del Valle launched a two-run homer, cutting the deficit to 12-6. The Owlz scored three more runs in the seventh, highlighted by a Kevin Maitan home run. The Owlz would not get any closer as the Raptors went on to score the next four runs, taking the 16-9 victory.

Ogden reliever Connor Mitchell (3-0) earned the win while Johnny Morell was charged with the loss. The Owlz return home following the all-star break on August 9th against the Missoula Osprey at 7:05 p.m. at the Home of the Owlz.
