Lexington County Blowfish News Release
Forest City, N.C. (June 29, 2015) -- The hit parade started early, and it never ceased. Forest City ripped 15 hits in a 14-1 victory over the Lexington County Blowfish on Monday night at McNair Field.
The last time these two teams met, the Blowfish came back from a 4-0 deficit to win 5-4 on June 19. This time, the 4-0 deficit climbed past that point. Batters 1-through-5 scored all 14 runs for the Owls. Weston Jackson led the way with four, and Ray Carolina and Spencer Henderson both scored three times.
John Mangum's two-run double proved to be the game-winning hit, all the way back in the bottom of the first inning. Forest City would tack on three runs in the first and third innings, four runs in the fifth, three runs in the seventh, and one more in the eighth inning.
The Blowfish got on the board in the eighth inning. Tyler Lancaster (Spartanburg Methodist) hit a long pop up to center field, scoring Bennette Hill (Shelton State) from third base.
Blowfish pitching had a tough time containing Henderson (4-for-5, 4 RBI) and Mangum (2-for-4, 3 RBI), the heart of the Owls' order.
The Blowfish will return to Lexington County Baseball Stadium on Tuesday to face Gastonia. Dog Day Tuesday, presented by MetLife, encourages fans to bring their dogs, on a leash, to enjoy the night out at the ballpark. Tickets are still available by calling the box office at 803-254-FISH, online at blowfishbaseball.com, and at Blowfish on Main (101 East Main Street, Lexington, South Carolina).
