Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Fayetteville SwampDogs fell to the Holly Springs Salamanders 5-1 Tuesday night at Salamanders Stadium in a contest delayed one hour and 42 minutes at the beginning by rain.

The Salamanders got to Aaron Lesiak (Soph./Presbyterian) in the second inning for a run, and tacked on additional tallies in the third and fifth innings to open up a 3-0 lead.

Leading off the sixth against Chandler Sanburn, Jimmy Faul (Jr./Louisville) blasted the first pitch over the right-centerfield wall to cut the Salamanders lead to 3-1. The homer was the first of the season for Faul, who leads the team in hitting.

Kodi Whitley (Soph./Mount Olive) relieved Lesiak with one out in the fifth inning, and was his usual stellar self eating up innings for the 'Dogs, allowing one run in 2.2 innings pitched, striking out 2. Nolan Mullen (Soph./Furman) allowed an insurance run to score in the bottom of the eighth as the Salamanders opened a 5-1 lead

Mitch Roman (Jr./Wright State) collected two hits to extend his hitting streak to 10 games, the longest for a SwampDogs player this season.

Lesiak got hung with the loss for the SwampDogs, falling to 1-2 on the season, while Sanburn went 8.2 innings for the Salamanders, improving to 1-0 on the year.

The SwampDogs (12-16) return home on Wednesday for the first time in four games to host the Wilmington Sharks on Social Media Night. Follow the SwampDogs on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for great deals throughout the park! Get your tickets now by calling 910-426-5900.
