Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

OMAHA, NE - A season-high crowd of 13,698 was on hand at Rosenblatt Stadium Friday for the annual NAIFA night with the Omaha Royals. In addition to thousands of NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors) customers, more than 20 other groups were among the fans enjoying the ball game between the Royals and the Nashville Sounds, as well as the post-game fireworks display. Unfortunately, the Royals lost to the Sounds, 8-2. The night was presented by NAIFA, KETV-Channel 7 and NewsRadio 1110 KFAB.

The crowd of 13,698 is the largest of the season, eclipsing the April 16th Cox Communications Home Run for Youth Day crowd of 11,939. Those fans watched the Royals beat Albuquerque, 9-5.

Friday night's loss was just the Royals second defeat in their last eleven home games. Even with the setback, the Royals own a 23-11 record at Rosenblatt Stadium this season.

The Royals current homestand continues through Sunday. Rosenblatt's gates open at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and the first 750 kids 12-and-under receive a free baseball glove, courtesy of Hebrew National, WOWT-Channel 6 and 1620 The Zone. The Royals face the Sounds at 6:05 p.m.

Another large crowd is anticipated on Sunday, for the 1:35 p.m. homestand finale. It's the Royals annual Military Appreciation Day, when the first 1,000 fans receive a free gym bag, presented by Lockheed Martin. It's also Family Fun Day with clowns, face painting, balloon art and all kids invited to run the bases after the game, brought to you by KGBI 100.7 FM, KPTM-Fox 42 and Just for Kids and Families. Plus, all Royals Kids Club members receive a free ticket to the game, courtesy of SUBWAY.
