Green Bay Blizzard News Release

The af2 has long been regarded as a "fan's league". A league that isn't just concerned about how much tickets are, or player stats, or even wins and loses but a true showcase of sportsmanship where fan's watch the game the way it was meant to be played and help others when in need. If this theory was ever in doubt, the Green Bay Blizzard fans proved otherwise at the final home game of the 2007 season.

After the passing of Green Bay Blizzard Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Kerry Brown, the team planned to honor his memory by establishing a memorial fund to benefit his three children. The team decided to host a silent auction with items ranging from a Brett Favre and Donald Driver autographed Green Bay Packer helmet to a Wisconsin football signed by Head Coach Brett Bielema, all graciously donated by teams and private donors. Along with the team's contributions, the Green Bay Blizzard official fan club, provided their own contributions collecting donations and hosting a raffle as fans entered the arena.

In total the Blizzard and Blizzard Cold Front raised over $8,000 at Friday night's game through the silent auction and raffle. This on top of the private donations already sent to the office for Kerry's memorial fund.

"The support has been incredible," said Blizzard General Manager Jim Kraft, "when Kerry passed we knew we had an obligation to help in whatever way we could, our fans really came through."

Not only did Blizzard fans help to contribute but two weeks ago when the Blizzard traveled to Quad City for their first round playoff game, the Steamwheelers fan club sold buttons and collected donations for Kerry's memorial fund with contributions totaling more than $900.

It is safe to say that af2 fans, and specifically Blizzard fans, are the best you will find anywhere in professional sports.
