Outpost Ice Arenas to Host 2023 Moose Cup Invitational Tournament on Saturday, August 12, 2023 to Honor Trevor Flint

(Albuquerque, NM) - The Outpost Ice Arenas today announced the 2023 Moose Cup Invitational Tournament this Saturday, August 12 beginning at 7am featuring 3 on 3 pond hockey (no goalies) action across six divisions of youth and adult teams with names including Rattle Skates, Hattrick Swayzes, Dad Bods, Here for the Rootbeer, Happy's Hockey Hooligans, Trash Pandas and more. The full-day fun family event honoring Trevor Flint and helping to support his family is a celebration of local ice sports beginning at 7am and running all day culminating with the Silver Final and Gold Final games at 10:05pm. The Moose Cup gives fans an opportunity to see New Mexico Ice Wolves coaches and current players from both the NA3HL and NAHL teams as well as former New Mexico Ice Wolves players Dillan Bentley and Petr Phillipov. Fans can also enjoy public skating sessions at 11:30am-1:30pm, 2-4pm, 5:30-7:30pm and 8-10pm allowing them to come out to skate and have a bite to eat while taking in some fun hockey for a great cause.

The 2023 Moose Cup Tournament was created by local adult hockey player Greg Bronson his wife Tina Tomlin along with his adult travel team NM Moose players and their families specifically, Willi Loew and Mike Westphal. Dawg Nation Hockey Fundation and CEO Marty Richardson have been extremely supportive in helping to create this special event specifically to benefit the family of Trevor Flint. He committed himself to growing the game of hockey and all ice sports in New Mexico when he retired from the Air Force after a 27-year career. He was the general manager at the Outpost Ice Arena in Albuquerque for a few years after his retirement. Known as "The Colonel" to the kids, Flint instilled values of respect, excellence and fun in all aspects of hockey. He went above and beyond to provide opportunities for youth players to learn from positive role models in the sport.
