WAYNE, N.J. - The New Jersey Outlaws, propelled by a four goal second period, defeated the Danbury Whalers during the home opener by a final score of 5-3 in front of 1,172 fans at the Capital One Bank Ice Vault. Five different Outlaws scored throughout the game.
The Outlaws opened the game with a sluggish first period in which Danbury's Chris Seifert was able to put the Whalers on the board with two minutes remaining. The Outlaws would come out ready for the second period, scoring four consecutive goals. Lawne Snyder would open the scoring for New Jersey on the power play before Kevin Cooper, Matthew Puntureri and Luke Flicek all joined him in celebrating a goal. Danbury would close the gap at the end of the period scoring with five minutes remaining in the period.
The Outlaws would not be out done in the third period in front of their home fans. After Devin Guy scored for the Whalers, John Goffredo would find the back of the net once more for New Jersey which wrapped things up on the ice.
Dan McWhinney played a strong game between the pipes, stopping 27 of 30 shots. The Outlaws outshot the Whalers 33-30 in the game.
The Outlaws return home on November 4th to take on the Cape Cod Bluefins and November 5th versus the Danbury Whalers. Tickets can be purchased by calling 973-886-9335 or visit www.newjerseyoutlaws.com.
