TONIGHT'S GAME:
The Fort Wayne Komets bring their 5-game winning streak into Kemper Arena for tonight's battle against the Kansas City Outlaws at 7:00 p.m. The Komets have won nine of their last ten games including their last five straight. The Outlaws have been hot at home including their last two home wins over the weekend. Both teams are owned by Chillicothe's Stephen Franke, as the season series is tied at 1-1 with both games being held at Fort Wayne.
INSIDE THE OUTLAWS:
This is the fourth game of a nine-game home stand for the Outlaws. They are coming off of an undefeated weekend including a nail-biting shootout victory on Saturday against Missouri and a high-scoring affair against Quad City on Friday night. Goalie Maxime Gingras highlighted the weekend saving 43 of 45 shots on Saturday against the River Otters. Matthieu Descoteaux added two goals and an assist in the Outlaws Friday night victory. The Outlaws are 5-2 at home this season. Right winger Scott Kirton has been placed on the 10-day IR, defenseman Ruslan Borysenko will appear on the roster tonight, and defenseman Robert Machalek remains on the IR.
A GLANCE AT THE KOMETS:
With no other games on the UHL schedule, the Komets look to tie Rockford for first place in the Western Division with a win tonight. The Komets lead the league in goals, assists, and point and have only allowed a combined four goals in their last four games. They have scored a league-high 50 goals on the road and have a goals for and goals against average of 3.74, which is also the highest in the UHL. The Komets are tied with Adirondack for best road record at 8-5-1. Goalie Kevin St. Pierre has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week after his impressive 1.33 goals against average and .959 save percentage. Rookie defenseman Jason Kean was honored Sherwood UHL Player of the Week following his 1 goal and 7 assists in four games last week. Winger Tim Krueckl has been placed on team suspension as he tends to personal matters.
TOYS FOR TOTS:
The Kansas City Outlaws are collecting Toys for Tots at Outlaws home games on December 10 at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, December 15 at 7 p.m.; Friday, December 17 at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, December 18 at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy with them to the games. The toys will be distributed to needy kids throughout the Kansas City area this holiday season.
