
Fort Wayne's Jason Kean and Kevin St. Pierre earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Tuesday that Fort Wayne defenseman Jason Kean has been named Sher-Wood Player of the Week and Fort Wayne goaltender Kevin St. Pierre has been named Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, December 5, 2004.
Kean completed the week with seven points (1g, 6a) and a plus-four rating in four games. On Sunday, the rookie defenseman registered his first professional five-point game scoring a goal and adding 4 assists to the Komets 6-3 win over Flint. Kean's five points tie him for the record number of points scored in a UHL game by a Komet. Entering his second professional season, the 25-year-old Nanaimo, British Columbia native leads Fort Wayne defensemen with six goals and sixteen points.
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack right wing Frank Littlejohn, Danbury forward Mike Bayrack, Elmira right wing Jason Sessa, Flint right wing Jim Duhart, Kalamazoo center Yannick Carpentier, Kansas City left wing Jimmy Callahan, Missouri defenseman Mat Snesrud, Motor City defenseman Tim Laurila, Muskegon center Jeff Nelson, Port Huron Aaron Brand, Quad City right wing Paul Cabana, and Richmond center Mark Turner, and Rockford center Olivier Proulx.
St. Pierre finished the week with a 3-0-0 record, 1.33 GAA, and a .959 save percentage. On Wednesday, he earned his first shutout of the season stopping 38 Rockford shots. It was the veteran netminder's twelfth UHL shutout and the twenty-first of his career. On Friday, St. Pierre registered the win making 30 saves. Sunday St. Pierre registered his seventh straight win stopping 26 of 29 shots against Flint. Having played in 17 games, St. Pierre has a record 12-4-1, is tied for second in the UHL wins (12), and is fifth in minutes (985:33). The Sherbrooke, Quebec native is playing in his tenth professional season, fourth in the UHL and second with the Komets.
