UHL announces suspensions from Trashers-Wings game

December 7, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2) News Release


LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO. - United Hockey League (UHL) Vice President of Hockey Operations Brad Jones announced today the following suspensions resulting from UHL Game #134, Kalamazoo @ Danbury, December 1, 2004.

Danbury defenseman Rumun Ndur has been suspended for 20 games under Rule 43(a) and Rule 76 (a-ii) (a match penalty for kicking and physical abuse of officials). Mr. Ndur's suspension will commence with UHL Game #143 on December 3, 2004 versus Richmond and shall continue through UHL Game #277 on January 15, 2005 versus Flint. Mr. Ndur may resume playing beginning with UHL Game #284 on January 16, 2005 versus Adirondack. Kalamazoo defenseman Josh Elzinga has been suspended 5 games under Rule 43(a) (a match penalty for attempt to injure). Mr. Elzinga's suspension will commence with UHL Game #138 on December 3, 2004 versus Elmira and shall continue through UHL Game #169 on December 11, 2004 versus Danbury. Mr. Elzinga may resume playing beginning with UHL Game #133 on December 12, 2004 versus Rockford.

"We will not tolerate these types of actions on the ice to damage the integrity of our league," stated Brad Jones, Vice President of Hockey Operations.

In announcing today's actions Commissioner Richard Brosal issued the following statement:

"I fully support Brad Jones's decisions on both of these players. We have all worked very hard to maintain high integrity of the UHL and will not tolerate these types of actions."
