
Outlaws Select Collegiate Draft Picks

DENVER-May 29, 2008- In the Major League Lacrosse 2008 Collegiate Draft, the Denver Outlaws selected Princeton defenseman Dan Cocoziello with their first pick. The 6-foot, 230-pound defenseman played for Bill Tierney at Princeton, who is the father of former goalie and current defensive coordinator Trevor Tierney. Completing one of the greatest lacrosse careers in Princeton history in 2008, Dan Cocoziello was named a member of the USILA first-team All-America and carries a resume that includes two unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selections, two second-team All-America selections and the honor of being the first defenseman ever to be named Ivy League Rookie of the Year.
Mike Ward, a midfielder from Duke University, was selected 27th overall in the 3rd round and Peter Striebel from Princeton University was selected 47th overall in the 5th round. Streibel is the brother of Philadelphia Barrage midfielder Mike Striebel.
The Outlaws will play host to the New Jersey Pride for the first time ever this Saturday at 7pm. The Pride had 2 of the top 3 picks and 5 of the top 12 draft picks in the draft. Fresh off of the NCAA semi-finals this past weekend, the Pride drafted Duke standout Matt Danowski who is scheduled to make his MLL debut at INVESCO Field this Saturday, May 31.
On Sunday, June 1 from 10am - Noon, INVESCO Field and the Outlaws will host U.S. Bank Sunday Sessions, which is a fan fair day open to the public. Fans of all ages can come and play on INVESCO Field with Outlaws players and coaching staff. Events will include throwing and catching, shooting on goal, obstacle course, an autograph session and a chance to take a photo with the players.
