Outlaws Rally In Seventh

July 10, 2011 - North American League (NAmL)
Edmonton Capitals News Release

Chico, CA - A four-run seventh inning for the home team proved to be the difference on Saturday night, as the Chico Outlaws came from behind to beat the Edmonton Capitals 6-5 in the second last game of their nine-game set at Nettleton Stadium.

The Caps built a 5-2 lead on the Outlaws through six innings, but Chico rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh, and their bullpen shut the door from there to steal the victory. Edmonton's record fell to 26-17 with the loss, but they still only trail the 24-14 Lake County Fielders by 0.5 games in the North American League's North Division standings.

Left fielder Todd Linden and first baseman Brent Metheny were the offensive stars for the Caps on Saturday, as they each recorded three hits, including two doubles by Linden. Starting pitcher Andrew Arreola scattered two runs and three hits over six innings to put Edmonton in position to win, and he also drove in two runs at the plate to help his cause.

Unfortunately for the Caps, reliever Jorge Vasquez surrendered four runs in the seventh inning to allow the Outlaws to take the lead. Jake Muyco pitched the final three innings to pick up the victory for the Outlaws, while catcher Kurt Steinhauer hit a grand slam to drive in all four of Chico's runs in the pivotal seventh.

The Caps and Outlaws have one game remaining to wrap up their lengthy nine-game series on Sunday at 8:05 p.m. MT. The teams have split the series 4-4 thus far, so Sunday's game will serve as the rubber match. Edmonton then plays three games in Calgary against the Vipers Tuesday through Thursday.

The Caps finally make their return to TELUS Field to host the Vipers and continue the battle of Alberta July 15-17. The Friday game is another Fireworks Friday presented by 92.5 JOE FM, while the Sunday afternoon game is Cheemo Ukrainian Day, as well as Family Pack Sunday presented by Dental Choice and 630 CHED, as fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four Pepsi products for just $52.

The Capitals are the city's most affordable entertainment option in the summer featuring Edmonton's largest patio! Season seats start at less than $9 per seat. Individual game tickets start at $10 in advance and can be purchased at the Capitals Box Office (10233 - 96 Ave) during regular business hours Monday through Friday, at any Ticketmaster location, online at capsbaseball.ca or via phone at 780-414-GOAL (4625).
